▌Recently, the 11th meeting of the 14th Guangdong People’s Congress Standing Committee was held in Guangzhou. At the meeting, attendees heard reports on the procuratorial work of marine ecological environment and resource protection from the People’s Procuratorate of Guangdong province. The report pointed out that the procuratorial organs of Guangdong severely punished the crimes of damaging marine environment and resources in accordance with the law. From 2021 to May 2024, a total of 107 people were arrested in 53 related criminal cases, and 504 people were prosecuted in 262 relevant cases.

近日，广东省十四届人大常委会第十一次会议在广州召开。会议听取了广东省人民检察院关于海洋生态环境和资源保护检察工作情况的报告。该报告指出，广东省检察机关依法严惩破坏海洋环境资源犯罪，2021年至2024年5月共批准逮捕海洋环境资源刑事案件53件107人，起诉262件504人。

▌According to the report, from 2021 to May 2024, Guangdong procuratorial organs filed 1,038 public interest litigation cases on marine ecological environment and resource protection, and promoted relevant administrative organs to actively perform their duties through procuratorial suggestions and consultations. Besides, a total of 204 pre-litigation announcements were issued in civil public interest cases. For public interest damage issues that could not be resolved before litigation, we adhered to the judicial value, and filed 134 public interest litigation cases to the court. Seven public interest litigation cases related to the marine environment and resources were considered as typical cases in the country.

报告显示，2021年至2024年5月，广东省检察机关立案办理海洋生态环境和资源保护公益诉讼案件1038件，通过检察建议、开展磋商等方式推动有关行政机关积极履职674件；发出民事公益诉讼诉前公告204件；对于诉前无法解决的公益损害问题，坚持以“诉”的确认体现司法价值引领，向法院提起公益诉讼134件，7件涉海洋公益诉讼案件获评全国典型案例。
