▌Jiangmen city of Guangdong is known as the “city of overseas Chinese” in China. In recent years, the People’s Procuratorate of Jiangmen City has been working to protect the rights and interests of overseas Chinese, strengthen protection of their cultural relics, and solve the disputes related to overseas Chinese.
广东江门素有中国第一侨乡的美誉。近年来，广东省江门市检察机关聚焦华侨权益保护，强化涉侨文物保护协作、涉侨纠纷多元化解。
▌They also supervised the protection of Wuyi Diaolou structures which were built with the financial aid of overseas Chinese from the time of the Ming Dynasty to the early 20th century. Diaolou display a fusion of Chinese and Western structural and decorative forms. Kaiping Diaolou and Villages were designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007.
他们也致力于督促保护五邑侨乡碉楼。开平碉楼源于明朝后期，到20世纪20-30年代，随着大量华侨回乡置业，开平碉楼出现了一个前所未有的鼎盛时期。碉楼建筑群展现了中西建筑和装饰形式复杂而灿烂的融合。2007年，“开平碉楼与村落”正式列入《世界遗产名录》，中国由此诞生了首个华侨文化的世界遗产项目。
▌In January 2022, the People’s Procuratorate of Xinhui District, Jiangmen found the Meige Pier have foundation settlement and cracking problems when they conducted a public interest litigation on the cultural relics and cultural heritage protection. The Meige Pier was funded and built by overseas Chinese. Promoted by the procuratorate, the local government actively pushed forward the repair and maintenance work, and raised more than 1.6 million RMB of funds among overseas Chinese.
2022年1月，广东省江门市新会区检察院在开展文物和文化遗产保护公益诉讼专项监督行动期间，发现由华侨筹建的梅阁码头旧址出现地基沉降、梁柱开裂等现象。在检察机关的推动下，当地政府积极启动修缮维护工作，向海内外华侨募得160余万元资金。
