▌Chinese prosecutors safeguard the dignity and reputation of heroes and martyrs

▌May 1st this year marks the fifth anniversary of the implementation of the Law on Protection of Heroes and Martyrs.

今年5月1日是英雄烈士保护法实施5周年。

▌The Law on Protection of Heroes and Martyrs, unanimously passed by the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress at its second session on April 27th, 2018, came into effect on May 1st, 2018. It declares that our nation and people are always commemorating and honoring all heroes and martyrs for their sacrifice and contribution to the country. It embodies the value of safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of heroes and martyrs, and integrates with the core socialist values that people should nurture and practice.

2018年4月27日，十三届全国人大常委会第二次会议全票通过了英雄烈士保护法，自2018年5月1日起施行。这部法律宣示国家和人民永远铭记、尊崇一切为国家和民族作出牺牲和贡献的英雄烈士，表明捍卫英雄烈士的鲜明价值导向，是培育和践行社会主义核心价值观的重要法律。

▌From 2018 to 2022, the procuratorial organs across the country tackled nearly 100 public interest cases involving damage to the name, image, reputation and honor of heroes and martyrs, and prosecuted over 60 cases. In addition, they dealt with more than 8,000 administrative public interest cases concerning government agencies protecting memorial sites poorly, and prosecuted over 50 cases, in accordance with the Law on Protection of Heroes and Martyrs and the Administrative Procedure Law. This helped with the renovation of 23,000 memorial sites.

2018年至2022年，全国检察机关共办理侵害英烈姓名、肖像、名誉、荣誉民事公益诉讼案件近百件，起诉60余件；此外，检察机关还依据英雄烈士保护法和行政诉讼法相关规定，对英烈纪念设施保护不力的，立案行政公益诉讼案件8000余件，起诉50余件，推动修缮烈士纪念设施2.3万余处。
