▌China’s procuratorial authorities intensify fight against cyber-related crimes
▌The Supreme People’s Procuratorate worked with the Ministry of Public Security to issue guiding opinions on handling criminal cases involving telecom and cyber fraud, aiming to crack down on illegal activities across the entire criminal chain and carry out prevention and governance in a holistic way. According to the work report of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, in 2021, about 282,000 people were prosecuted for engaging in fraud, gambling or spreading pornographic contents on internet, up 98.5% from 2020.
▌In 2021, Guangdong’s procuratorial authorities stepped up efforts to crack down on telecom and cyber fraud as well as crimes involving infringement of personal information. A total of 4,951 people were prosecuted for crimes related to telecom and cyber fraud as well as crimes involving infringement of personal information.
