▌China is committed to the legal protection of the ecological environment 

　　▌According to the work report of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, China’s crackdown on environment-related crimes is effective. In 2021, China prosecuted 49,000 people for illegal activities jeopardizing the environment, the first decline in eight years. The activities highlighted in the report include illegal dumping of hazardous waste and smuggling imported waste, among others.

　　▌Procuratorial authorities in Shenzhen Qianhai & Shekou Area, Guangzhou Nansha Area and Zhuhai Hengqin New Area of Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone countersigned working opinions to strengthen cooperation in public interest litigation on marine eco-environment protection in November, 2021. A mechanism for joint investigation and evidence collection was established by these three procuratorial organs to enhance coordination on cross-regional cases and cases with high public concern.
